B.K. Karkra is a well-decorated soldier with scholarly inclinations. He had the privilege of putting on four different uniforms in his career - the olive green of the Indian Army, khaki of the Indian Police, grey of the National Security Guard (better known as the Black Cat Commandos) and black as the Supreme Court advocate. He has authored a number of books. Most of these are available in the prestigious libraries of the world, including the British Library at London and the Delhi Public Library. Besides, as a freelance journalist, he has contributed over three hundred articles on wide-ranging issues to various national and reputed regional newspapers. His book, 'RANI PADMINI - The Heroine of Chittor' was adapted by Mr. Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his award-winning mega movie, 'PADMAAVAT'.
